Crystal King

Crystal King is a marketing and communications veteran, freelance writer and Pushcart-nominated poet. Her debut novel, Feast of Sorrow, a work of historical fiction about Marcus Gavius Apicius, the first century Roman gourmand whose name is inextricably linked with the oldest known cookbook, was long-listed for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. Crystal, who currently serves as Social Media Professor at HubSpot and has led global social media programs for Keurig Green Mountain, CA Technologies and Sybase, lectures regularly about the use of social media for building author platforms. She has also taught classes in writing, creativity and social media at Harvard Extension School, Boston University, Mass College of Art, UMass Boston and GrubStreet. A former co-editor of the online literary arts journal Plum Ruby Review, Crystal received her MA in Critical and Creative Thinking from UMass Boston, where she developed a series of exercises and writing prompts to help fiction writers in medias res. She has just completed her second novel, about the private chef to several Renaissance Popes.
